decorationsNow that Remembrance Day has come and gone, I think I just might be ready to get into the holiday spirit. There are only 41 sleeps until Christmas! I am finding that difficult to believe. I might have to count that again. I’m pretty sure that this means that Christmas is going to be here faster than I think I’ll be prepared for. At any rate, I’m sure that it is time to get cracking! It is time for making, baking, buying, cleaning and all that good stuff (ok, cleaning isn’t fun like shopping is, but it needs to happen too). It might be time to make a list…

This means that it is time for the annual Christmas Market Tour. Not only do Christmas Markets put me in the holiday spirit, but they are also super inspiring. You just never know what kind of ideas you can get or what hobbies you spontaneously think to take up! Just a few of the markets happening over the next few weeks are…

rocking horseCanmore Christmas Artisans Market (Canmore Collegiate High School, 1800 8th Ave.) is on November 15th and 16th running from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. This year is the 19th annual Canmore Christmas Artisans Market, and it will feature art for the home, treats, and traditional crafts.  There will be blown and stained glass, pottery, fine wood work, and hand crafted knives. Still not what you are looking for? There will also be jewelry, silks, chocolates, soaps and handmade paper, furniture, photography, paintings, and carvings, and so much more!  A variety of savory snacks, sweet treats, and drinks will be available. CookiesBanff Christmas Market (Warners Stables, 100 Sundance Road) is on November 14th to 16th running from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm on Saturday, and 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Sunday. The Banff Christmas Market is a one of a kind shopping experience for unique fashions and handcrafted gifts along with live entertainment and fantastic food.  For more information, visit here.

SantaThe 3rd Annual Mrs. Claus’ Shop (275 Jensen Drive, Airdrie) is on November 15th and 16th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. This holiday market features over 55 vendors including local crafters, bakers, artisans and small business owners. Added to that, there are opportunities to have your picture taken with Santa, and gift wrapping by donation.  Admission is free. For more info, please visit here.

The Cochrane Ranchehouse Christmas Market (101 Ranchehouse Road, Cochrane) is on November 23rd from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be more than 70 vendors offering a wide variety of fine crafts, jewelry, home furnishings, decorations, clothing, art, photography, and more!   Santa will be there to have his picture taken. Admission is free, and donations to the Cochrane Food Bank are welcome.

Spruce MeadowsThe Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market presented by TELUS runs for 3 weekends, (November 14 to 16; November 21 to 23; and November 28 to 30) so there are lots of opportunities to get there! It is an enormous market, so mentally prepare to be wowed! Pacing yourself is key to seeing everything here! There are 250 plus vendors spreading the Christmas spirit with 50 km of Christmas lights strung around the grounds. There is live entertainment (signing, dancing, and instrumental) to add to the festive atmosphere which can be enjoyed while the fire pits keep you warm.   This market has gift-ideas from items imported from around the world to local hand-crafted gifts to create a beautiful and stress-free place to shop. The Christmas Market is the perfect place to unwind with friends and soak up the festive atmosphere, with a perfect place to shop, dine and socialize.
