Father’s Day is this Sunday and in celebration and in recognition of this day, a lot of brands are taking the opportunity to remind us how important fathers are. Many of this year’s Father’s Day ads are real tearjerkers (or maybe I just have faulty tear ducts).
You’ve probably seen Dove’s incredible Summer and Winter Olympic ads that pay tribute to moms, but now it’s time to focus on dad. In Dove’s touching tribute to dads, they say in the video’s description, “It’s time to acknowledge the caring moments of fatherhood that often go overlooked.”
WestJet’s is another brand with a viral hit under its belt with the ad they have created for Father’s Day. Their Christmas Miracle video touched the hearts of millions of viewers and now, WestJet is working their magic again. This time, WestJet paired up with Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada to reunite a loving father with his sick child and family. It is undoubtedly heartwarming.
Disney is celebrating dads as well with this “aww”-inspiring video and description that reads “Here’s to the original Prince Charming in your life. The one that let you know you are a princess. The one that played make-believe way before you realized it was well, make-believe. The one that tied your shoes, let you have that extra scoop of ice cream, giggled when you were being silly and made it all better when you cried.”
I know that not everyone is as lucky as I am. I have an amazing dad who has been there for me every step of the way from the days before I even thought about walking. Maybe that’s why I relate so strongly to these ads – or maybe to go along with my faulty tear ducts I have an extra helping of the sappy gene.
